- Talk to your parents, friends, or teachers, and tell them what is going on. It is amazing how much better you feel after talking about your problems.
- Do something you enjoy, like reading novels, listening to music, or even sleeping.
- Exercise. This will release endorphins that will improve your mood. Play a sport you enjoy.
- Hang out with people you like. You don't have to do anything specific; they will likely help take your mind off your depression.
- Keep a "Happy Moments" journal where you record your best memories, successes, achievements, and the moments you felt great. When you feel down, read them and remember how great you are.
- Create a mood chart, tracking your mood over a month. This helps diagnosing what may be contributing to bad moods.
- Do something you've been putting off for a while and feeling guilty about it. This will make you feel accomplished.
