Jackson Pollock 生日快樂

今天一開 Google ,一看”咦,怎麼原本還是牛年快樂的圖示,變成了好像是 Jackson 畫風的圖”,(右邊為滑鼠移上去之後,跳出的延伸訊息)

原來今天是 Jackson Pollock 的生日。所以首先呢,我們先認識一下他：

杰克逊·波洛克（Jackson Pollock，1912年1月28日~1956年8月11日）是一位有影响力的美国艺术家以及抽象表现主义（abstract expressionism）运动的主要力量。又译做杰克森·波拉克。

他生于怀俄明州的Cody，后来于1929年移居纽约，在托马斯·哈特·本顿（Thomas Hart Benton）门下学习。他从象征艺术上转移，并发展了一个在帆布上喷涂和滴颜料的绘画技术。在发展出他特有的技术前，因为过于专注于创作却没有突破，作品销售不佳，加上个性怪辟、神经质的性格而无法靠兼差谋生，而一度必须靠家弟及后来成为其妻的女友Lee Krasner接济度日。

1938年到1942年间，他为联邦艺术工程工作；1950年代到1960年代，他通过“文化自由议会”（Congress for Cultural Freedom）受到中央情报局的支持。

波洛克在1956年8月11日晚上因为行车超速，发生交通事故而丧生，使其大器晚成的创作生涯也因而告一段落。( from zh.wikipedia.org )

會認識他的人,絕大多數都是唸過藝術相關科系的人會知道,而我咧…也是

之前在舊金山藝術學院修 3D Master 時,有一週的作業就是”畫出Jackson Pollock的自由創作”,后….那時就在想”3D 跟這個有什麼關係”,不過,還好不是使用任何 3D 軟體來作畫,而是可以使用廣告顏料來創作,好家在。

那時在看到 Jackson 的作品時,心裡想著”應該很簡單吧…”,不過,真的畫下去,還真的不好畫。就他作畫的技巧,他自稱為”Drip”,使用油漆顏料黏稠流動的特性來創作,而細節呢…就很難描述了,藝術這東西是很難描述的

My painting does not come from the easel. I prefer to tack the unstretched canvas to the hard wall or the floor. I need the resistance of a hard surface. On the floor I am more at ease. I feel nearer, more part of the painting, since this way I can walk around it, work from the four sides and literally be in the painting.

I continue to get further away from the usual painter's tools such as easel, palette, brushes, etc. I prefer sticks, trowels, knives and dripping fluid paint or a heavy impasto with sand, broken glass or other foreign matter added.

When I am in my painting, I'm not aware of what I'm doing. It is only after a sort of 'get acquainted' period that I see what I have been about. I have no fear of making changes, destroying the image, etc., because the painting has a life of its own. I try to let it come through. It is only when I lose contact with the painting that the result is a mess. Otherwise there is pure harmony, an easy give and take, and the painting comes out well.
